5G LIVE TRIAL

U Mobile will run a 5G live trial service at Berjaya Times Square on 7 September 2020 until 31 December 2020.

All U Mobile customers with data-enabled plans can experience the new 5G network at Berjaya Times Square* with a 5G-compatible device.

*Service is applicable at Level LG, GF, and 1 only. 5G availability is subject to best effort service delivery. 5G services may be affected by the number of people using the service, resource allocation, maintenance and upgrades.

Yes, you need 5G phone to access the 5G network.

We currently support the below devices but more 5G compatible devices will be supported progressively.

  • Huawei Mate30 Pro 5G
  • Huawei P40, P40 Pro, P40 Pro+ 5G
  • Huawei Nova7 SE
  • OPPO Find X2 Pro 5G
  • Vivo X50 5G

All U Mobile SIM cards are 5G-ready. You do not need to change your SIM card.

If you are a new subscriber or have just replaced a new SIM card, your 5G network will activated within a week.

Your smartphone will display the 5G network status icon the moment you’re connected to 5G network.

To enable your 5G connectivity, you will need to perform a one-time setup on your device via its Settings and you will be automatically connected thereafter.

Please ensure to upgrade to the latest firmware version for your phone to be 5G compatible, and turn on 5G on your phone following these steps:

  • Huawei
    1. Step 1
      Step 1:

      Go to Setting. Tap on “Mobile network”

    2. Step 2
      Step 2:

      Tap on “Mobile Data”

    3. Step 3
      Step 3:

      Go to “Preferred Network mode”

    4. Step 4
      Step 4:

      Select “NR/LTE/WCDMA/GSM auto”

  • OPPO
    1. Step 1
      Step 1:

      Go to “Settings” and tap on “Sim Card & Mobile Data”

    2. Step 2
      Step 2:

      Tap on "SIM"

    3. Step 3
      Step 3:

      Go To “Preferred Network mode”, and enable 5G by selecting on 5G/4G/3G/2G (auto).

  • Vivo
    1. Step 1
      Step 1:

      Go to Setting tap on “Mobile network”

    2. Step 2
      Step 2:

      Tap on "SIM1"

    3. Step 3
      Step 3:

      Tap on “Network Mode”

    4. Step 4
      Step 4:

      To enable 5G tap on 5G (Preferred) 4G/3G/2G.

You may have exceeded the available data quota of your existing rate plan.

No 5G-specific surcharge will be imposed. The 5G network trial will be available as part of your existing rate plan.
