U Mobile partners with Waze to give free data access to the popular navigation app

KUALA LUMPUR, 19 April 2016 – U Mobile Sdn Bhd, the telco with the fastest mobile network in Malaysia, has partnered with Waze, the world\'s largest community-based traffic and navigation app. Through this partnership, U Mobile’s customers will enjoy free data access to the app from today until 31st of December 2016. Hence, whenever U Mobile customers use Waze in Malaysia, the navigation process will be completely free as their data quota will not be utilised.

Jasmine Lee, U Mobile Chief Marketing Officer, shared that the partnership is fitting as Waze is one of the most widely used apps by U Mobile customers. “We are a data-centric telco, one that is always looking at ways to enhance our customers’ data experience, whether in terms of value or in quality of experience. By partnering with Waze, we are able to reward our customers by giving them free data access to the app. Our customers will be encouraged to play a more active role in updating traffic situations in Malaysia via Waze as their data quota will not be utilised.”

Edward Ling, Head of Malaysia Sales for Waze, said, "Waze has more than 2 million monthly active users in Kuala Lumpur, driving nearly 263 million kilometers with the app each month. Eliminating cost barriers, U Mobile’s free data partnership entices more drivers to join the Waze community to outsmart traffic together, whether on a daily commute or around major traffic events like Hari Raya and Chinese New Year. Malaysian drivers won’t have to worry about going over data limits, providing further peace of mind on daily commutes. We look forward to seeing how our community grows through this partnership.”
